Other 63AMGs have switched over to more fuel efficient 5.5L V8 engine, which also complies with current emissions regulations. Let us have a closer look at the new 2013 SLS AMG GT in this review.

Powered by naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine, the 2013 SLS AMG GT renders 583 horsepower (that is 20hp more than power output of regular-grade SLS). However, torque output at 479 lb-ft is the same as that of the outgoing model.
The engine’s wide powerband, instant power release, immediate throttle response, massive torque output, etc. are some of the best features that Mercedes-Benz has ever produced. Now that other 63 AMGs have massively shifted to 5.5L V8 in order to cut down fuel consumption and regulate fuel emissions, the driver will miss the much-needed gush of power. It sports 7-speed automatic transmission. The AMG GT touches 62mph mark in just 3.7 seconds.
Top speed of 2013 SLS AMG GT is 197mph. Although there is a great deal of similarity between 2013 SLS AMG GT and the model it replaces, the difference is quite pronounced in terms of suspension and transmission. This is because 2013 SLS AMG GT has adopted Adaptive Performance Suspension proprietary to AMG. SLS AMG GT sports a revamped dual-clutch gearbox.
When set to Normal mode, the GT Coupe changes gears in the manner of torque converter units by Mercedes. Gear changes get much quicker in Sport and Sport Plus modes. Although automatic transmission suffices, manual mode is present to satiate the needs of those drivers who like to create pops and bubbles. At corners, 2013 SLS AMG GT executes multiple downshifts with sufficient throttle sound.
2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Price
2013 SLS AMG GT is expected to be priced at $220,000.
2013 SLS AMG GT definitely adds value to the SLS AMG series but is not a significant improvement over the outgoing model. Nevertheless, its fast and sporty character makes it look pretty fresh in the market.
