Gout is a type of inflammatory arthritis with swollen and sensitive joints that cause burning feeling and immense pain. It mostly occurs on the foot and big toe. This metabolic condition is caused by buildup of excess uric acid in the blood which leads to formation of acid crystals within the joints. Usually uric acid is excreted through urine, but when there is excess uric acid build up in the body, it can get accumulated in the joints and cause pain and inflammation. Excess intake of alcohol, seafood and meat, lack of exercise, stress, overweight and certain medicines can cause excess uric acid buildup. There are many treatment options available including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for gout, but natural treatments can also help to reduce pain and inflammation associated with gout.
