Bremont Supermarine, The Dive Watch With A Difference

Swiss watches are known for their exquisitive quality and legendary accuracy. The heritage of fine craftsmanship is still borne by the younger entrants in this field. Bremont, a British company, is one of the more recent brands which has forayed into making fine Swiss watches. Bremont watches are made in its atelier in Switzerland and every model in the Bremont range is certified limited edition chronometer for it goes through meticulous reworking and rigorous tests to pass aviation standards before leaving the workshop. Interestingly, each watch also has to pass a field test before reaching you.

Bremont has gone into making dive watches with the launch of its Supermarine range which has been crafted to live up to the high standards of the company. The S500 Supermarine range comes in various colors like blue, black, silver and black-green combination with rubber straps. There is also a limited edition variation called the Decsent.

Bremont Supermarine Features

Each of the Supermarine comes with some great Bremont features. The exquisitely crafted chronometer movement is encased in an anti-magnetic Faraday Cage to live up to Bremont’s aviation standard. The 43mm diameter stainless steel case itself is anti-shock and patented. A black PVD barrel is neatly tucked in between the screwed-on case back with the image of the Supermarine aircraft and the beautiful sweeping lugs.

The watch is water resistant up to 500m and the uni-directional rotating sapphire bezel with superluminova luminous coating allows impressive luminosity even in low light condition. It has a helium escape valve to allow deep diving.

The movement is a modified caliber thirteen-and-a-quarter inch BE-36AE automatic chronometer with 25 jewels and glucydur balance. The other moving parts include the Nivaflex 1 main spring, Anarchon balance spring with power reserve for 38 hours and the Bremont decorated rotor.

Interestingly the Bremont Supermarine looks different from most of the dive watches. The general look is that of an aviation watch, a result of the various design features it incorporates from the other famous Bremont aviation watches.

There is also no doubt that it lives up to the aviation standards. But like the legendary seaplane it is named after it shows its prowess in water also. The 500m, 50ATM resistance; Helium release valve and a metal dial with superluminova coated indexes makes it no less a dive watch than the others in competition. The bolted down crown guard provides protection to the winding crown and is an exclusive feature of the watch.

Though Bremont is a relatively new entrant into watch making, it has already generated a generous fan following for its designs that incorporate the robust, tough features as well as lays stress on the classic components. Since the company is new, its watches are yet to see what the legendary watches have seen and it is yet to establish as a brand whose name is enough to create a stir, the question of continuity and durability may be at stake.

But the features, the high standards of craftsmanship and testing, use of the best possible mechanics and materials available today and the rising fan following even among the stars of the new generation can ensure that the Bremont brand is here to stay and the Supermarine range will go a long way. Starting Price of Bremont Supermarine is $5150
