Canon EOS-1D X is the latest DSLR from the house of Canon. With the launch of the EOS-1D X, Canon has completely turned the 1D series on its head and it is destined to be leader of the 1D pack.
This new generation 1D will replace the EOS-1Ds Mark III and Mark IV and it sports a host of new features. Here are some of the new features that you will definitely fall for.
Canon EOS-1D X Camera Features
The Canon EOS-1D X comes armed with a new 18 megapixel full frame CMOS sensor which is supported by not one, but two processors. The Dual Digic 5+ image processors have enabled the camera to capture images up to a speed of a mind boggling 12 frames per second.
But that is not all; another dedicated Digic 4 processor takes care of AF control and metering. As a result the images are now almost noiseless and the colors have come even closer to the natural tones,
In the Canon EOS-1D X the sensor cleaning has too passed on to the next generation. The new UWMC or Ultrasonic Wave Motion Cleaning system uses carrier wave technology to remove the much smaller dust particles from the sensor.
The camera features an incredible range from ISO 100 to 51,200 apart from a low setting of ISO 50 which is available for shooting landscapes and under studio lights. On the higher side, the camera can boost up the ISO requirement to ISO 102,400 (H1) and ISO 204,800 (H2).
The list of new innovations seems endless. Even in the autofocus area, Canon has brought in new specifications. Now you get a new 61-point High Density Reticular Autofocus system that expands the autofocus area. As a result you will get faster and more precise autofocus which does not lose its steam in low contrast, low light conditions.
Another new development is the new EOS iTR AF (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition) option for capturing images where fast changing scenes are involved and this should be great news for the events, sports and wedding photographers.
Exposure and Imaging
A dedicated processor only for focusing is indeed news. The exclusive Digic 4 image processor uses 252 zones to give the sharpest possible focus in general conditions and even in the low light situation it uses 35 zones to do its work.
Such speed of focusing and processing enables the Canon EOS-1D X to do some wonderful things like shooting at 12 fps and creating a composite image from combining up to 9 single images.
New Generation File Transfer
Canon EOS-1D X features an in-built LAN connection through a gigabit Ethernet jack for a wired workflow and transfer system. It also features a regular direct image transfer function through LAN or USB.
Canon has also launched the all new Canon WFT-E6A Wi-Fi transmitter as an accessory exclusively for the Canon EOS-1D X. However, the list does not end here as the numbers of new or improved features continue in the Canon EOS-1D X.
Canon EOS-1D X Camera Price
The Canon EOS-1D X is yet to hit the market and will be available from March 2012 at a price of around $ 6,800 for the body only.
