Sweating is body’s natural cooling system. It is a natural process and it helps to cleanse the skin of impurities. But excessive sweating can be embarrassing and irritating. Abnormal sweating of palms and feet is a disorder that is medically known as Palmar Hyperhidrosis (palm sweating) and Plantar Hyperhidrosis (feet sweating).
Excessive palms and feet sweating can cause a lot of discomfort to the person. Palm sweating can interfere with your work, like when you are studying, working on a computer or are in a meeting. You also tend to avoid shaking hands with people, thus it can turn out to be a social embarrassment.
Sweaty feet can be another cause for concern and may make you suffer from a complex, because feet can become smelly after remaining in shoes for a long time. Excessive sweat in feet can also cause fungus infection.
There are various ways to cure sweaty palms and feet like oral drugs, surgery, electric shock treatment etc. but these methods can cause severe side effects and one should consider these treatments as a last resort and that too from a trained and qualified practitioner.
There are some natural cures for sweaty palms and feet that are safe and do not cause any side effects. You can follow these treatments to cure the problem in its initial stages.
Effective Cures for Sweaty Palms and Feet
Hot and Cold Water Fermentation
Water is a natural cleanser. Keep one tub of hot water and one tub of cold water. First soak your feet or palms in hot water for 5-7 minutes then dip them in cold water for 5 minutes.
Keep alternating for 30 minutes to cure sweaty palms and feet. Wipe dry your limbs thoroughly and apply a delicate talcum powder like baby powder to keep them dry. You should preferably do fermentation at night for better results.
Keep The Skin Dry
Keep the skin of your feet and palms as much dry as possible. Apply alum powder on your hands and feet and keep it on for 10 minutes before washing it off.
Alum powder helps to contract sweat veins and it also absorbs extra sweat effectively. Do this treatment for 15 days regularly and then follow it up at alternate days to cure sweaty palms and feet.
Boric powder is another effective cure for sweaty palms and feet. Sprinkle some boric powder in your socks to keep your feet dry. You can apply boric powder in your hands and cover them with cotton gloves overnight.
Black Tea Fermentation
Boil one litre water and steep 2-3 black tea bags in it for 10 minutes. Use the water for fermentation for sweaty hands and feet. It helps to contract the pores, thus it prevents perspiration. You can do this treatment as and when required. 30 minutes of fermentation will keep your palms and feet dry for 5-6 hours.
Wear Cotton Socks
Always wear cotton socks if you are suffering from sweaty feet. Cotton absorbs the moisture and keeps your feet dry. It also helps to prevent foot infection.
