Never seem to wake up on time no matter how early you go to sleep the previous night? Finding it difficult to get that much needed jump start to get your day going even if you had got ample amount of sleep the night before? Well here are some simple, but excellent and very effective tips to get you out of bed exactly at the time you want to every morning.
Follow these tips for a few weeks and your body would slowly start adapting to the new sleep cycle. And soon enough you would find it easier to wake up on your own instead of having someone or something do it for you.
Various Tips On How To Wake Up Early
Check Your Health
If you seem to be drowsy and groggy the entire day even after sleeping well the previous night, chances are you might be suffering from a health related condition that could be causing the issue. Check with a doctor for possible options like sleep apnea. And check with a nutritionist about a possible change in your existing diet plan in order to make you more active in the mornings.
Have Not One But Two Alarm Clocks
This works for me every time. I have two alarm clocks that I time with a 5 minute interval. This way, even if I doze off after switching off the first alarm, the second one would wake me up after 5 minutes.
Make sure that the tones for both the alarm clocks are shrill enough to push you right out of bed. If you happen to have pleasant songs or music as tones, you would only sleep better on hearing them ring.
The Placement Matters
Keeping your alarm clock within easy reach would only make you stop it as soon as it starts ringing and then go off back to sleep. On the other hand, if you keep your alarm clock (or clocks) even a few feet away from the bed, you would need to get out of bed in order to stop it. And that would be reason enough for you to wake up.
Get Rid Of The Snooze Option
How many times have you woken up only to switch on the snooze option on your alarm clock before falling asleep again? If the answer is ‘more than a few times’, then you know the time has come to get rid of the snooze option on your alarm clock.
This particular option can make you lazier than you already are. With it, you would be more tempted to go back to sleep as you feel that the alarm would ring again after the snooze period is over and you can wake up then. Sadly, by the time you wake up, more than a few snooze periods would have gone by and you would be late again.
Bed Side Coffee Or Drink
If coffee can wake you up, then it pays to have a cup of coffee at your bed side when you wake up in the morning. You can either ask for someone to give you a cup of coffee every morning or pour some coffee into a thermos flask and keep it beside your bed before going to sleep every night. Alternatively, you can opt for energy drinks that can boost your senses in the morning and get you out of bed easily.
Wake up Training
Do this while you are free. Switch off the lights in your bedroom and lie down on your bed. Set the alarm clock to ring after 5 minutes. When it does, jump out of your bed. Repeat this procedure as often as possible. Soon enough, your body would get used to the process of jumping out of bed as soon as it hears the alarm clock and so would do the same when you want to wake up early as well.
Medications and Sleeping Pills
If you are under medications that might possibly cause drowsiness, ask your doctor for alternate options. Give sleeping pills a miss as they would make you extremely drowsy the next morning. Again, never opt for over the counter medications to treat conditions like insomnia or sleep apnea. Check with your doctor for alternate forms of treatments before going for sleeping pills or other sleep inducing medications.
Brute Force Treatment
If nothing else seems to work, try to adopt the brute force method as a last option. Accordingly, set all the alarm clocks in your room to ring at exactly the same time every morning. Have an early riser (your friend) call you every day at the same time as well.
Program the Television in the room to automatically switch onn at the same time. The same goes for the radio and any other contraception in your room that can be programmed to give off a sound at exactly the same time as the alarm clocks begin ringing.
This way you know you have a fool proof plan that would never fail. Just wait till you hear the commotion the next morning. I bet you won’t be able to go back to sleep after hearing the cacophony of noises in the room.
