Healthy hair is epitomized by shine, bounce and a smooth texture. Although split ends on some sections of the hair are very common, too many of them can affect the overall health of your hair. A split end occurs when a single strand of hair splits into two.
They occur when the cells of the cuticle wear away. Although the one effective strategy of getting rid of them is to trim the hair every now and then, the only permanent solution to split ends is to prevent them from occurring. Here are some steps to getting rid of split hair.
How To Get Rid Of Split Ends
Be very careful while washing hair. Just shampoo your scalp. The remaining strands of hair will automatically become clean with the suds. Always use a wide toothed comb when combing hair and avoid combing the hair while it is wet.
Protect the Moisture of The Hair
Let your hair remain amply moisturised by washing them only twice or thrice a week. Oil your hair frequently so that the hair is sufficiently moisturized and the roots and tips of the hair remain healthy.
Do not use Heating Products
Heat damages the hair and causes it to split so make sure you do not use too many heating products. Avoid blow drying your hair and let it air dry after a wash. Always use a heat protecting serum before styling your hair with heat.
Split ends also occur when the top most layer of the hair is excessively exposed to colouring, perming and hair re-bonding. The harsh chemicals in such products play havoc with your hair.
If you do use them, make sure you use a colour specific shampoo and conditioner to help keep your colour intact and to maintain the health and shine of your hair. Protect your hair from the sun as harsh UV rays of the sun are damaging on the hair and can dry them out. Wear a hat or a cap when going out in the sun.
Regular trimming helps to banish split ends. Make sure you get your hair cut to at least an inch so that the split ends are eliminated.
Jojoba oil is said to be an effective remedy in the treatment of split ends. Just apply some hot jojoba oil on your scalp as a hot oil treatment and let it remain overnight in your hair. It helps to nourish the scalp and also helps to prevent the formation of split ends.
Avocadoes are good for the hair. Make a hair mask by grinding an avocado in a blender and mixing in an egg and some olive oil. Apply this to your hair in the form of a hair mask. Leave the mask for 30 minutes to allow it to penetrate the hair before washing it as usual.
Beer is an excellent rinse for the hair. Not only does it give a shine but also helps to strengthen the hair from the roots thus preventing the incidence of split ends.
