Harry Winston launched its first Histoire de Tourbillon Collection in 2009. This 2011, the famous watch brand launched the second edition under the same collection. This new timepiece will have a bi-axial tourbillon. The new Histoire de Tourbillon 2 is a limited edition watch. It is so limited that there will be only 20 pieces of this watch.
The magnificent case of this watch has eight sapphire crystals with 5 front crystals and 3 back crystals. The mesmerizing bi-axial tourbillon which also functions as the 60-second hand is encased in a 48.5 mm case made out of polished 18 karat white gold. The Tourbillon uniquely lacks an upper bridge but is supported by subtle almost invisible connections that make the external carriage look as if it is floating.
Internal and External Carriages
The bi-axial flying Tourbillon is a combination of two concentric carriages: the external carriage and the internal carriage. The external carriage is made out of titanium and provides additional precision to the watch. This is because the titanium carriage enables the regulating mechanism to execute rotations that are multi-dimensional.
The external carriage is capable of a complete rotation in just 120 seconds. The internal carriage which is tilted at an angle of 10 degrees can make a complete rotation in just 40 seconds.
Harry Winston Histoire de Tourbillon 2 Dial Lay-Out
The lay-out of the opaline black dial is designed in an entirely different way from the Histoire de Tourbillon released in 2009. The case of the Harry Winston Histoire de Turbillon 2 efficiently splits up the different functions of the watch. The running seconds is located at 9 o’clock, the minutes located at 6 o’clock and the hours with its day and night indicators are located at 2 o’clock.
The day and nigh indicators are identified through their colour. Orange signifies daytime while blue signifies night time. The strap of the watch is in stylish but classic alligator leather with a matte black colour.
Harry Winston Histoire de Tourbillon 2 Unique Qualities
The uniqueness of the Histoire de Tourbillon and its very limited pieces has highly influenced its price. Because they are extremely unique timepieces, they are also very expensive.
The impressive tourbillon movement, dial layout and elegant case are the factors that make this watch one of a kind. Another factor that adds to its expensive price tag is the fact that there are only 20 pieces of this limited edition watch.
Expensive But Tough Watch
Even if it is a very expensive watch, it is still a good buy because in addition to its unique design and features, it is also a very durable watch. It is the kind of watch that can be passed from one generation to another. It is also a great investment since it can still be sold at a very good price after a few years assuming that it is in perfect condition of course.
The market value of this watch does not diminish over the years because it is a highly limited edition. It is indeed a timeless timepiece which would appreciate in value.
