Lenovo IdeaCentre A520 23-inch All-in-One PC Review

After taking the market by storm with its Android devices, Lenovo is ready with its first rendering of PCs based on the much awaited Windows 8. Adding another gem to its IdeaCentre lineup, Lenovo recently unveiled the IdeaCentre A520 – a 23-inch all-in-one PC.

Highlights of Lenovo IdeaCentre A520 are its frameless and foldable display with 10-point multi-touch functionality, third-generation Core i7 processor, Windows 8 OS and a number of connectivity options. With these features on board, IdeaCentre A520 looks pretty much competitive and gives confidence that it is here to stay unless Apple sues it too for bearing resemblance to the iMac.

On first looking, Lenovo IdeaCentre A520 exudes a look very similar to that of Apple iMac. Dimensionally, the IdeaCentre A520 is 13.26×1.25×8.29 inches and weighs 21.6lb.


Lenovo IdeaCentre A520 sports a 23-inch frameless display that sports 1920x1080p full-HD resolution. The 0.8-inch thick screen supports an aspect ratio of 16:9. A unique aspect of the display is the 10-point multi-touch functionality that accounts for optimum accuracy level. The angle of view is also adjustable in the range of -5 to 90º. This simply means that you will get a perfect view at the screen no matter where you are sitting.


Besides, support of proprietary Dynamic Brightness system enables the screen to adjust its brightness on the basis of prevailing light conditions. This feature is a boon to those who have to incessantly look at the computer screen every day. The screen is foldable being attached to hinge much like in the fashion of its predecessor. Now that the PC is based on Windows 8, users will be able to play board games by spreading the display flat on the table.


The PC sports 8GB RAM and DVD drive that can be updated to Blu-ray by shelling out few extra bucks. The PC is based on the much awaited Windows 8 operating system. It is an improvement over the predecessor A720 that was based on Windows 7 OS. Lenovo IdeaCentre A520 runs on IvyBridge Core i3-3110M processor from Intel with a clock speed of 2.5GHz.

Users can also opt for the quad-core Core i7-3820QM processor with a clock speed of 2.7GHz. Users can also opt for nVIDIA GeForce 615 graphics processing unit. However, gaming lovers will have to go for the B-series PCs also launched along with IdeaCentre A520.
