LG optimus a taste in different concepts of the mobile features, the optimus 3D integrating the sweetness of 3D into a smartphone, the optimus 2X housing the dual core processors for double the performance and so forth. It tries to keep the family running by releasing the optimus L3 E405, which will again stand out from the crowd by offering dual SIM capability in an android smartphone which has only been done by the Samsung galaxy series.
Features Of LG Optimus L3 E405
The specs remain more or less the same to any other smartphone, giving GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 in 2G network and HSDPA 900/2100 for the first SIM and HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100 on 3G network.
Trying to keep the smartphone thin and sleek, it does not succeed in doing so since the body dimensions measure 102.6 x 61.6 x 11.9mm but the phone covers that part by keeping its body considerably light weight, the phone tipping the scales at 119g.
There are four touch based buttons: for accessing home screen, going back, action button (formerly known as the ‘menu’ key) and the last for switching standby between SIM cards since the phone lacks dual standby support.
Supporting a disappointing 256K colors where other vendors offer 16M colors, the phone’s display is not so good either, the display resolution being 240 x 320 pixels and ~125 ppi pixel density.
As for the positives, there is a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touch screen and multi-touch support as well.
Memory and Processor
The phone has a decent 1GB of internal memory and 384 MB of RAM which is quite slow, and a micro SD card support for those who want more storage for apps. There is an 800 MHz single core cortex A-5 processor and Adreno 200 GPU coupled with MSM7225A Snapdragon chipset. The interface will be smooth to an extent after which the problem of android would be experienced: Open too many apps in the background and the phone tend to freeze regularly.
As for the camera, the phone gives the 3.15 MP camera which can capture images at a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and records VGA videos at 24fps. The additions to camera features include geo-tagging and autofocus. The phone lacks secondary camera, though.
The goodness of battery in a smartphone is what makes it worth buying, but the phone does more that, it offers just about the best battery life one would want in their android smartphone. Giving battery life of 12 hours 30 minutes in 2G and 10 hours in 3G would be enough to erase the rumor from the mind that android phones do not give good battery life. All this was possible since the phone threw a 1540 mAh Li-Ion battery.
Some other features are added to give the phone its finishing touches:
Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread)
Predictive Text Input
Dual SIM Compatibility
Sensors for Accelerometer, Gyro and Compass
GPS with A-GPS Support
Price Of LG Optimus L3 E405
Priced at roughly 180.143 USD, the phone is actually very good and perhaps an attempt by the LG to create optimus smartphones for every price range, the only minus point being the lack of dual standby mode and a ‘not-so-good’ display.
