The smartphone industry is booming with the increasing demand for high end android devices. LG tries to fulfill this demand by launching the LG Optimus L7 on May 2012. Also known as the LG Optimus P705 for the Chinese market, it has many interesting features as follows:
Features Of Lg Optimus L7
The superb advantage of this phone is its Operating System which is the latest version of Android, the Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0 compared to other phones that still offer Android Gingerbread v2.3 in this price bracket. The phone houses a Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon chipset with a 1 GHz cortex A5 processor and the Adreno 200 GPU.
In the general category, the Optimus L7 supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900 in 2G network and HSDPA 900/1900/2100 in 3G network.
An important demand for a high end smartphone is that it should be slim and lightweight at the same time. LG satisfies the demand by keeping its phone slim since the phone has dimensions measuring 125.5 x 67 x 8.7mm and the phone is decently light weight too at 122 grams.
The phone has the traditional back button on the left and the menu button formerly known as the action bar on the right and the home button on the middle. The action bar and the back button are touch sensitive keys while the home button is a hardware one.
As for the display, the phone sports a clear but a power hungry IPS LCD capacitive touch screen. For the obvious part, the phone is capable of displaying 16 million colors. The size of the phone is 4.3 inches at a resolution of 400 x 800 pixels at 217ppi pixel density. The phone is multitouch too and has the super strong corning gorilla glass for protection.
The Optimus L7 has 4GB of internal memory out of which 2.4GB is user available. The phone has 512MB of RAM too. For expanding the memory, there is a microSD card slot provided which supports memory cards upto 32GB.
The phone offers quite good specifications in the connectivity features too. The phone gives GPRS Class 12 (4+1/3+2/2+3/1+4 slots) 32-48 kbps in 2G network and HSDPA 5.76 MBPS and HSUPA 21 MBPS in 3G network. The phone also supports wi-fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP. The phone also sports the latest connectivity feature, the Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled on it.
Camera is an average 5MP on the Optimus L7 with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and the secondary features on the camera are auto focus, LED flash, geo-tagging and touch focus. What’s disappointing in the phone is the inability to capture HD pictures or shoot HD videos.
The other secondary features are:
Dolby Mobile Sound
Sensors for accelerometer, proximity and compass
HTML 5, Adobe Flash
GPS, with A-GPS support
Java, with MIDP emulator
Predictive Text Input
The phone has a standard Li-ion battery of 1700 mAh. Overall the phone is quite good akin to most of the phones in the LG Optimus series, however, the inability for recording HD videos and snapping HD images is a must for a phone priced at 19000.
