Mark Tully’s Comments
The most apt description has been given by Mark Tully, an ex-BBC correspondent who has made India his home now, “Maharaja’s Express will herald a new era in luxury and travel. This is a great experience indeed.”This journey, christened Celestial India, is truly heavenly.Mark Tully further added – “I am delighted that this train was flagged off from this great city called Kolkata.”
The Decor and Services Onboard Maharaja’s Express
The train comprises of five deluxe cabins, six junior suites, two suites and a grand presidential suite. You have LCD televisions, DVD players, individual temperature controls, direct dial telephones, Wi-Fi connectivity and large windows to give you a panoramic view of the fleeting outside, in every cabin. Could you ask for more, one may well ask! The live television facility really calls for applause, not to forget the wifi connection!
Each cabin is twin bedded and has an attached bath. Needless to say everything is regal about the Decor – the counterpanes, the pillow cases, the bed sheets, the floral wall paper, the et al.
The bathrooms are another experience – step into one of them and you are swiftly transported to some traditional royal bathrooms you may have seen in magazines and plush books. The fear is you may not want to step out of your room, honestly; when there is still so much to see and cherish in your memories diary.
The presidential suite naturally demands to be in the highest echelon of regality and so it is! The double king or queen size bed can lull you to the most peaceful sleep; the sitting area is another story with its regal sofas and there is that separate dining area, in case you wish to sup or dine in private. Words may not suffice the grandeur of the suite and its Decor – it can be probably defined as par excellence in comfort, luxury, richness and blue-blooded royalty style.
The dining areas will whet your appetite not only of your stomach but also that of your artistic hunger. The tables, the settings, the covers, are immensely regal; but what will take your breath away are the servers – you cannot but be awed with the splendor of service and the dignity of serving.
Last but not the least is the food served on the Maharajas Express is gourmet’s delight! Any lover of really good food, who knows the delights of the taste buds and their intricacies, will linger at the dinner table just to be with the food for as long as he can! The pleasure is sensuous and can last with you for years and years.
