Okay, here it comes, the much hyped Mercedes Benz B Class sturdy hatchback family car from the German luxury brand. Before a formal launch the Indian customer’s response to this model will be noted when the car is showcased at the Auto Expo in 2012.
Mercedes Benz’s first front-wheel drive car will be available in both petrol and diesel variants in the Indian market maybe as early as June 2012.
The car looks sober and serious from all angles with its side jaws looking drawn in, not actually – truly a very austere looking car. It is the type you would entrust your family with at ease and why not; Mercedes Benz is a name unanimous with awe-inspiring strength, quality and class.
The new B-class design somewhat resembles its earlier editions, and a little of the R-class which is available in the Indian market now. It has the trademark three-grille front and the interiors up to the mark of the claimed new C-Class standards.
Mercedes Benz B class model has engines which are an amalgamation of the old and new generation components. Both the petrol and diesel types will have four-cylinder 1.8 liter engines as compared to 2.1 liter C and E Class, and seven-speed dual clutch gearboxes.
The petrol version will have a peak power of 156 horsepower with a torque of 250 Nm at 1250 rpm; the diesel version of the Mercedes Benz B class comes with 109 hp and a torque of 300 Nm at 1600 rpm.
This yet to be launched sporty-looking Mercedes Benz B is 5 cm lower than that of the previous B-class cars; the headlights stretch sideways, and the tail lights have a horizontal effect. The sleek and seamless design is true to the Mercedes Benz reputation with a touch of aerodynamics.
The interior of the car is elegant, spacious and spells ultimate comfort as is expected. The precision applied to the structuring of every detail in perfect style is exceptional, but then again, remember it is the Mercedes Benz we are talking about. Worth mentioning is the front panel in piano black and color display (TFT), the total dashboard frame is compact and has a galvanized finish.
Another feature worthy of mention is that it has electromechanical steering with direct-steer capability. As a safety measure the Mercedes Benz B Class model will have radar based collision warning system integrated in the brake to avoid any rear-end collisions.
2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class Price
The Mercedes Benz B class, which is a combination of a family car and a multi purpose vehicle, may find a few hurdles when it is introduced in the Indian market at a price of 18 lakhs rupees.
If you are in the market looking for a luxury car in the same price range you will naturally lean towards the Mercedes Benz B Class. Besides, the fact that this is probably the only Mercedes model at a much lower price compared to its other models.
The B Class still carries the brands style, comfort and optimum luxury. Moreover, its safety features will prove to be a boon and save you a few bumps in the back on the Indian roads.
