Motorola has come up with its new 3G and Wi-Fi enabled tablet- Xoom 32 GB, which promises a lot. It seems that a lot of thought has gone into the making of the Xoom since it is using the faster and effective Honeycomb 3.1, instead of 3.0, from Google as the Operating System. It has got everyone curious with its features and comparisons will be drawn with the Acer ICONIA Tab 500, its nearest competitor. So let us see what the new Xoom 32GB tablet has to offer.

Looks and Display

The Xoom 32 GB has been given an aluminum body with plastic and rubber finish. The aluminum body is fingerprint resistant and feels nice in hand. The upper body is of plastic with a coating of rubber and the 3G, GSM and Wi-Fi radios are positioned on it. The Xoom 32 weighs 730 grams and feels very light and easy to handle. The HDMI, charging port and the micro USB port are located at the bottom of the Xoom 32GB.

The slot for the memory card and SIM is placed on the top along with the 3.5mm headphone jack. The stereo speakers are provided on the back of the Xoom 32GB along with the power button. The tablet also has a 5 MP camera at the back with a powerful dual LED flash for capturing objects in the dark. It boasts of a 10.1 inch screen having a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.

Operations

The Xoom 32GB uses the Honeycomb 3.1 from Google instead of the Honeycomb 3.0 that was used in the previous version of the Xoom. This has resulted in smoother and faster operations. Navigation has become less cumbersome with Honeycomb 3.1.

The taskbar now allows the user to view up to 17 recently used apps and switch to the desired one at once. One of the most exciting features of the new Xoom 32GB is the new avatar of GTalk. While using GTalk through Xoom 32 GB the user will be able to access multiple Gmail accounts.

The Xoom has an impressive internal storage capacity of 32 GB and is powered by the Tegra 2 CPU, courtesy Nvidia, that runs on a 1 GHz processor. The music player is pretty ordinary and plays WMA, MP3, AAC+ and WAV files.

Add-ons

The 3G version of the Xoom 32GB requires a 3G SIM and apps like Skype can be used for Video calls or conferencing. Besides the standard apps like Gmail, GTalk & Google Maps, it also comes with a Movie Studio and File Manager apps. The Movie Studio app lets you work with the pictures and videos while the File Manager allows you to navigate through the internal and external memory. Standard features like HDMI, Wi-Fi wireless ’n’ support and Bluetooth 2.1 are also available. The Battery is said to give a maximum of 10 hours of video playback.

The 3G and Wi-Fi enabled Xoom 32GB has been priced at INR 35,590 while the Wi-Fi only version comes with a price tag of INR 29,990.
