Diabetes is a metabolic disorder. In this condition your pancreas starts malfunctioning and do not manufacture sufficient amount of insulin for your body. Insulin is a hormone which regulates your blood sugar by carrying glucose present in your body to other cells where glucose is converted into energy.
People mostly suffer from Type 1 Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes. In case of Type 1 Diabetes, pancreas does not produce insulin whereas in case of Type 2 Diabetes pancreas produce insulin but patient’s body becomes resistant to insulin (also known as insulin resistance).
Women may also suffer from Gestational Diabetes during pregnancy. Patients who suffer from Type 1 Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes are likely to suffer from stroke if proper care is not taken to control blood sugar level.
