You must have always heard that the best watches come from the ateliers in Switzerland and the great watch names are all Swiss or French. In fact the long tradition of Swiss craftsmanship has taken a legendary status.
But have a look around and you will find that new companies are coming up and the watches they are crafting are giving a run for money to the established names in the industry.
One such name is Sarpaneva, a Finnish independent watch manufacturer which is the brainchild of Stepan Sarpaneva. Having a long tradition of finest Finnish craftsmanship behind him, this designer and master watch maker launched this new range in 2003 with timepieces that he himself handcrafted.
Since its launch, the name Sarapaneva has already caught the fancy of many watch enthusiasts and Helsinki is attracting the attention of many connoisseurs.
Sarpaneva Korona K0 Features
One of his new launches in 2011 is the Korona K0, a unique executive class sports watch with a timer ring that has been integrated to the movement. The watch is in the league of lightweight sports watches and it has created quite a stir even before its launch.
The watch, like the timer which has been integrated in its movement, also has the diver’s timer ring integrated into a modified main-plate of the movement.
These features enable the watch to carve its unique place among the watches. It is the only watch in which a single crown can adjust all the functions of the watch. So when you buy this watch, you can be sure that your watch carries a feature that in not available in any other watch.
The Korona K0 is encased in a typical Sarpaneva 46mm grade-2 titanium case in matt finish which is only 10mm thick. The internal multi-tier dials, integrated rotating bezel and the ‘Scalloped’ case with its swooping half-circle cut-offs gives it the unique appearance it is famous for.
The visibility remains unaffected through the 1.5mm thick multi-anti-reflection-coated sapphire crystal with the name SARPANEVA etched on its inside. Living up to the sports watch name, the watch is water resistant up to 200m.
The Superluminova indices on the black diamond coated stainless steel dials make sure that you can check time even in low light conditions. The timer ring is also diamond coated and in a brilliant Imperial Blue color which matches well with the Rhodium plated hands having Superluminova radiance.
The movement is ensured by the modified Soprod A10 calibre mechanical, automatic winding, 11.5 lines, 4Hz mechanism featuring 24 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve. The winding mass is stainless steel and white gold.
If you ask for durability and value, then you will have to ask all those who are waiting patiently to have a Korona K0.
