The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime has finally been unveiled. It is the follow-up to the Asus Eee Pad Transformer which was launched earlier this year. The Eee Pad Transformer Prime is a Tablet Computer which runs on the Android Honeycomb 3.2 and comes with an optional docking keyboard.

Design and Display
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime has been designed on the Asus line of Zenbooks and flaunts a spun metal aluminum lid. It has been designed to nicely mask fingerprints and oily smudges and is available in ‘champagne gold’ or ‘amethyst gray’. The Prime has a thickness of 8.3 mm and weighs 586 grams and feels better than most tablets out there on the market.
The Transformer Prime boasts of a 10.1 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution that uses the new Super IPS + LCD technology for maximum brightness at 600 nits. The most noticeable feature of the Transformer Prime is its optional docking keyboard. It comes equipped with a USB 2.0 port and a slot for SD card. The tablet has a 40 pin connector port at its bottom which enables it to slide into the optional dock and it is through this port that all the data exchange happens.
The power button is located on the top edge, in the left corner. The volume rocker is placed on the left edge of the tablet while the micro HDMI port and the micro SD card slot are placed right below it. The 3.5mm headphone jack has been provided on the right edge of the tablet and the stereo speaker is placed at the back of the tablet.
The Transformer Prime comes with an 8 megapixel rear camera- equipped with an LED flash, a back illuminated CMOS sensor and f2.4 lens. It has the ability to record 1080p video. There is an additional camera of 1.2 megapixels that has been provided in the front for video calls.
Performance and Operating System
The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime will be using Nvidia’s new Tegra 3 processor, which will make it the first quad-core tablet in the world and is expected to perform five times faster than the Tegra 2. The Tegra 3 processor has the backing of 1 GB of RAM and you will have the option of going for either the 32 GB or 64 GB of Internal Memory.
The 22 Wh battery used in the Transformer Prime is expected to have 12 hours of battery life and with the optional dock in place, the battery gives you 18 hrs of running time.
The Transformer Prime uses the Honeycomb 3.2 and soon one will be able to update it to the newest version of Android-the Ice Cream Sandwich.
Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime Price
The 32GB Prime will come at $499 and the 64GB model will cost $599. The optional dock will cost you another $149.
