Symptoms Of Bird Flu Bird flu is a condition which is also known as avian flu or avian influenza. As the name suggests, many of the symptoms of bird flu are similar to those of influenza. However, bird flu is much more dangerous than the common flu. It has affected many thousands of people all over the world.

Cases of bird flu are more common in the continent of Asia than in any other part of the world. Bird flu infects birds and then spreads to humans when they come in contact with infected birds. The virus which is responsible for causing bird flu is found in the intestinal area of several birds. The faecal matter of such birds carries the virus. When healthy birds or even human beings come in contact with such birds or their faeces, the infection spreads and infects them as well.

It is important to stay away from infected poultry as far as possible in order to avoid contracting this infection. The symptoms of bird flu include fever, body pain, nausea and weakness among several other symptoms. It is important to seek treatment during the initial stages of the infection as this helps the person to recover at a rapid rate. Neglected cases of bird flu can even result in the death of the affected person.

3 Common Symptoms Of Bird Flu

Breathing Problems

The affected people find it very difficult to breathe freely, especially at night. Such people have to struggle to take in every breath. The entire chest area feels rather heavy and uncomfortable. The affected person might feel as if there is a weight on his chest. The person is often unable to sleep well due to this symptom.

Due to the strain while breathing, the person might also experience pain in the chest. This is often accompanied by a persistent cough which aggravates the symptom of pain. The voice of the person also becomes hoarse.

Fever

The affected people suffer from persistent fever. In most cases, the fever is high and it does not subside completely even after consuming the prescribed fever medication. This symptom is rather weakening and the patient finds it difficult to get out of bed.

Persistent fever also makes the person lose his appetite and this causes further weakness in the body. As long as the infection is present in the body, the symptom of fever does not subside completely. The patient also suffers from chills which occur frequently throughout the day. This causes further discomfort to the patient.

Vomiting and Diarrhoea

Both these symptoms are rather weakening for the patient. Since this virus affects the intestinal area of the patient, the intestines are not able to function properly and this leads to vomiting. The person then becomes very weak and the electrolyte balance of the body is also disturbed.

Diarrhoea is also common and the person is unable to retain any proper amount of food in his body. Abdominal pain and severe cramping are common symptoms which can affect the patient. Persistent nausea might also occur in many cases of bird flu.
