The legendary maker of watches made from wood, pearl, rock and so on, Tissot is back with its new present – the Tissot Seastar 1000. Emerging out of the blue in the limelight this new impressive watch is an exclusive and sophisticated dive watch. The Tissot Seastar 1000is a beautiful combination of subtlety and massiveness. Besides, the overall impression that the watch makes on the onlooker is greatly contributed by its case design, polished surface and refined details.
Being an in-and-out diver’s watch, the Tissot Seastar 1000 have features that intelligently carve out the underlying concept. The Tissot Seastar 1000 is a 48mm stainless steel diver that features a helium valve together with mechanical chronograph. The unidirectional slope divers bezel offers unique one-minute increments.
The dial of the watch is quite usual with hour’s hand, minute’s hand and second’s hand. Added to these is the date compilation. Also, this diver’s watch is water resistant up to 300m or 1000ft water depth and for the same it has a screwed-down crown and is protected by two shoulders. The glass back of the watch, in porthole shape, is something to seriously admire.
Tissot’s choice of red color for the hands against a black dial backdrop is quite undecided as red color has the specialty of being unseen when one dives deep into the water.
May be the color is as much a part of their creative project as the type is. In fact, the hands of Tissot Seastar 1000 are far away from usual divers’ watch hands.
The hour hand is decorated with a red triangle at its tip and the second’s hand too has a similar decorative red piece at its tip. On the other hand, the slender minute’s hand is filled with Luminova so that it is easy to spot it in dark waters.
The Luminova filled minute’s handis traceable to the Seastar’s first series which had Luminova only on the tip of the minute’s hand.
Although in proper light the dial and the hands will put up a nice show for you, expecting the same in dark will only disappoint you. With a better glow, the Tissot Seastar 1000 offers clear reading in the dark – what else can you ask for? Anyways, if you really want to see some great lighting shows then there are better places than the Tissot Seastar 1000.
The Tissot Seastar 1000 sports a trimmed middle section against the huge middle section of the big case of watches that most divers’ prefer.
Also, the back is supported with six screws. If you are thinking that with slender back, the watch will not be placed properly then no need to worry. The absence of a thick back is compensated with deep bent lugs.
In addition, the ribbed edge on Tissot Seastar 1000 offers a good grip. Earlier Tissot models disappointed many with rubber straps.
As rubber is hot, users, sooner or later, got its irksome feeling on their wrist. The Tissot Seastar 1000 is a deviation from typical Tissot style in terms of strapping as well. Instead the Seastar 1000 sports a more interesting strap design.
It is a combination of a strap and a clasp. While the strap covers the lugs area, the folding clasp comes with wetsuit extension.
Interestingly, now your watch will be in place even when you are wearing it over a wetsuit. While the user gains the functionality and the looks of the folding clasp, he has to bear the price too.
ETA 2824 drives the automatic movement of the Tissot Seastar 1000. People make hue and cry about ETA 2892 automatic movement but it is practically not used. For a diver who needs rugged movement, the ETA 2824 is more than sufficient. Besides, ETA 2824 tells you the time in the same way 2892does.
Tissot has worked out innovative ways so that wearers of Tissot Seastar 1000 do not feel clumsy. The crown of the watch is placed sufficiently high so that it does not dig into your flesh.
Rubber strap of the watch hugs the wrist and keeps its position firm. Apart from that, the Tissot Seastar 1000 can be worn on any occasion, be it scuba diving, meeting old friends or a dinner party.
However, the Tissot Seastar 1000 cannot be called the best watch. What prevents the watch from being perfectly good is the domed sapphire crystal that reflects in certain angled position so much so that reading the time becomes almost impossible. AR coating would have been a welcome alternative.
Most watches in this range do not come in an impressive package. Breaking the norm, the Tissot Seastar 1000 is packed in a blue box wrapped in cardboard. The grey–white lining to the inner core might give you the feeling that the Tissot Seastar 1000 falls in a lesser price range. However, there is enough room for the watch as well as the papers.
When it comes to competition, the Tissot Seastar 1000 is invincible mostly because of its incredible price tag. Oris TT1 Meistertaucher charges €995 for the same functionalities that the Seastar 1000 sport – double the money for a few extras such as titanium case and water resistance up to 1000m.
There are, no doubt, models that are cheaper than the Tissot Seastar 1000 but cannot beat the latter in terms of its originality and exquisiteness.
The Nettuno 3 which is almost 100 bucks cheaper than the Seastar 1000 offers metal bracelet as well as a design much as well be copied from Rolex Submariner.
Same is the case with Seiko Black Monster, costing mere €200, which can well be called a mere sports watch than a true divers’ watch like the Seastar 1000.
The Tissot Seastar 1000 is perfect for those who desire to own great technology without paying much for it. It has got the style, elegance, technology coming at an affordable price tag i.e. $500 at an average. So, why not go for it! With a high promise of becoming a cult object, the Tissot Seastar 1000 is worth owning.
In the years to come, it is sure that many watch companies will be merely copying the Seastar 1000 design and selling it in higher price tags. So, possess a Seastar 1000 now and save yourself from repentance later.
