Rose wines are dry wines which are made from red grape varietal but they are not red wines. They have beautiful pink shade; some qualities of it have a stronger shade of pink. The color and flavor obtained generally depends on the grape variety and the technique used to make it. Rose wine is light and they derive their color from the skin of the grapes. The varieties which are used are Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache,Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, etc.

Varieties Of Rose Wines
This region of France is dominated by the production of rose wine. In fact, it is the only region in France that specializes in making rose wines. The variety used are several, however, the dominating one is Grenache.Along with it, other grape varieties like Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon,TIbouren, Carignan are used.
Cotes de Provence AOC prepares the majority of the rose wines in this region. Her AOC stands for Appellation d’Origine Controlee. This defines the quality and standard of the rose winemaking. Wine bearing the label of AOC assures the consumers of its quality.
In southern France, the winemakers specialize in rose wine. The best types of wines come from Taven AOC. The vinification is done by blending Mourvedre and Cinsault variety of grapes. This rose wine is sweet to taste and have as Mourvedre is the main component for them, which tastes of berries.
Also the Tavel produces wines whose main component is Grenache as per AOC laws. The latter makes up 60% of the wines produced.
Rose de Loire is the appellation for rose wines which are produced in the regions of Anjou, Touraine and Saumur regions of France. Two popular AOC’s exist her which are Rosé d’Anjou and Cabernet d’Anjou.
The dry red wine produced here is not sweet. The vinification is done by using Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pineau d’Aunis,Gamay and Grolleau Noir. The wine is dry, light and moderately fruity.
The Spanish name for rose wine is Rosado. The region of Navarra DO is dominated by the production if Rosado. The major variety is Grenache. The other components used to prepare Rosado in Navarra are Graciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranilo,Merlot and Carignan.
The distinct feature of this wine is depicted from its preparation technique. It is prepared in a way which is known as Doble Pasta or double paste. In fact, their red wines are also made in the manner mentioned. The rosados are light, dry and fruity to taste.
This is the modern or the new world rose wines. This is a more American as a Californian winemaker Bob Trinchero was the inventor of this spectacular type of rose wine by extracting most of its flavor from the red wine Zinfandel. It has a pale pink color and it is lighter, sweet and aromatic.
